Overview

At Smart Factory MTY, I worked directly with industrial and collaborative robot platforms in a manufacturing-focused lab. My work covered assembly, commissioning, fault diagnosis, maintenance, calibration, mechanical fabrication, end-effector development, and production-cell testing.

Robot Platforms

  • Universal Robots UR3
  • Universal Robots UR5
  • xArm 5
  • xArm 6
  • Rethink Robotics Baxter
  • ABB YuMi

Commissioning & Maintenance

  • Assembled and integrated robot platforms and peripherals.
  • Diagnosed electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Performed corrective repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Configured tool-center points and robot calibration.
  • Validated reach, repeatability, and cycle behavior in production cells.

Impact: Maintenance and root-cause work helped reduce robot downtime by 20%.

Custom Gripper

I designed and fabricated a high-precision end effector for pick-and-place work.

  • SolidWorks mechanical design.
  • Iteration of finger geometry and mounting interfaces.
  • 3D-printed prototype components.
  • Laser-cut structural parts.
  • Physical fit testing.
  • Production-cell validation.

Impact: The final gripper improved handling repeatability and increased throughput by 30%.

Additional Engineering

I also designed and fabricated brackets, mounts, enclosures, tool holders, and other robot-cell components using SolidWorks, 3D printing, and laser cutting.
